I’m originally from Qingdao, China, a coastal city that first sparked my connection with the ocean. Today, I explore how water shapes both ecosystems and the human experience.

I use my imagery to explore the resilient beauty of our oceans and the deep interdependence between nature and humanity. Trained in the Duke University’s Masters of Environmental Management program, and with a double major in Environmental Studies and Music from Wesleyan University, my work bridges science, art, emotion, and community.

I got certified as a SCUBA diver in Koh Tao, Thailand, 2019 and fell in love with the ocean immediately. Already a photographer at the time, it felt natural to bring my camera underwater. My path into underwater photography was a little unconventional - it all began with drifting in the dark, searching for tiny translucent critters in December 2019.

With limited time as a student, I made the most of every chance to travel with my bulky underwater setup, from Anilao in the Philippines, to West Palm Beach in Florida, to Kona in Hawaii.

In 2024, I began exploring the world of technical diving, starting with GUE Fundamentals and earned certifications in TDI ANDP and Fullcave Divng at the end of the year. These trainings in the Florida Springs gave me the rare chance to visit our precious aquifer and to be better equipped, both mentally and physically, for challenging environments.

In 2025, as an extension of my Master’s Project, I created an independent documentary about North Carolina’s diving community and how they help scientists on shark research and conservation.

Through still images and moving stories, I hope to spark curiosity, reflection, and a deeper sense of care for the unseen ecosystems that shape our shared planet.
